In the NSRA summer leagues for 2024, there were individual successes.
On 22nd September 2024, Alton competed at the Berkshire Open held at Worplesdon.
Rob and Martyn win the Club Pairs for Alton with 786 / 800.
In Class A we had good results as follows:
On 21st September 21st 2024, Alton was represented at the Hampshire County team by Rob and Martyn.
The County Cup was shot at Andover by a team of 12. The course of fire is a single Dewar, 20 shots at 50m and 20 shots at 100yds.
Hampshire went on to win the competition with 4695, beating second place Aberdeenshire on 4649.
Rob: 396/400 (100 achieved at 50m)
Martyn: 394/400 (100 achieved at 50m)
Alton Rifle Club are the Winners of the Hampshire Summer Prone League.
Prone:
Alton’s A Team take 1st place in Division 1 of the Hampshire Summer Leagues. Alton C take 2nd in Division 4.
In the individual league a number of 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were awarded.
Benchrest:
Alton’s A team take 2nd place in Division 4.
LWSR:
Alton’s A Team take 2nd place in Division 3.
Alton reach the ELEY / NSRA Finals for 2024.
Following the success of Sue in 2023, Alton’s prone shooters reached the ELEY finals in 2024, held at Bisley during the National Smallbore Meeting.
On the 11th August 2024, in sweltering conditions, Rob Forster and Liz Garner completed 40 shots at 50 metres.
Rob came 3rd in Class A with 394 / 400. (Winner achieved 396 / 400)
Liz came 3rd in Class E with 362 / 400. (Winner achieved 370/400)

Alton Rifle Club win at the Hampshire Smallbore Rifle and Pistol Association’s Rifle Open, held at Andover on 30th June 2024.
This competition involves a Double Dewar, shooting 40 shots at 50 metres and 40 shots at 100 yard.
Maritz Naude, on only his second outdoor shoot, wins the Double Dewar (Class A) with 389 / 400 including a 100 at 100 yards. This was an incredible achievement considering the number of Hampshire County shooters competing. Rob took 3rd place with 388 / 400.
Maritz and Rob also won the Club Pairs for Alton Rifle Club.
Sue comes 3rd in ELEY / NSRA Benchrest Class C with 391 / 400. The winner achieved 393/400 so it was a close competition.
